THE MERC - weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Driver B Williamson advised that the colt had over-raced in the early stages and had disappointed when going to pull up near the 600m.

THE MERC - pulled hard during the middle stages when leading. Lay in early in the run home despite the efforts of Driver B Williamson and shifted down into the passing lane. A warning was placed on the colt's racing manners however notwithstanding this Mr Williamson was reminded of his obligations given similar circumstances in the future. Mr Williamson advised that this runner had been contacting its wheel discs causing it to over-race and that Trainer K Bublitz would be making corrective gear change prior to resuming.

Trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be driven out. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation and had not gained an advantage by racing inside track markers.

Again, lay outwards in the run home and was reluctant to utilise the passing lane despite the efforts of driver B Williamson. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until the Stewards had viewed the footage of the start and were satisfied the gelding had not started in advance of its Unruly position. Lost the near hind plate during the running.
