A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Mr Cox advised he will have blood tests taken from the filly in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
BALTIC STAR - driver R Gutsell admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly shortly after the start when shifting ground inwards placing ALWAYS BE KIND in restricted room which broke in consequence. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
TAIKA - lost ground passing the 1600m and raced uncompetitively. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.

SHADOW CREEK - hung outwards through the early stages hampering a trailing runner and causing driver R Holmes considerable difficulty. Again hung outwards in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out. Mr Holmes advised he would be recommending gear changes.
SHADOW CREEK - held up final bend and early in the run home. Driver R Holmes was issued a warning for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
SHADOW CREEK - was awkwardly placed close to the sulky of BERRETTINI when held up over the concluding stages. Stewards will speak to driver R Holmes regarding this in the coming days.
SHADOW CREEK - broke shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hung outwards for a distance passing the 800m losing ground.
KELTIC TIGER - Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted by driver B. Williamson near the 800m when trailing a weakening runner. Mr. Williamson explained that the gelding had been under pressure to obtain the back of FORTY WIVES for some distance before the 900m mark. After securing this position, the gelding continued to race under pressure despite being behind a weakening runner. Mr. Williamson further stated that he elected to remain in for a short period in an attempt to encourage the gelding to race more competitively. However, upon shifting out to improve, the gelding was immediately under pressure again. After considering the circumstances, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr. Williamson's decision at the time was not unreasonable and determined that no further action was necessary.
PLAYING WITH STARS - over-raced middle stages. Junior driver H Douglas reported the mare had been striking the sulky wheel discs at various stages during the running. Mr Douglas (assisted by M Williamson) defended a breach of Rule 868(3) alleging he failed to drive the mare out to the end of the race when having a reasonable chance of finishing in 4th place. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved. After considering submissions on penalty Mr Douglas' driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 1 August 2025 (3 days).
BETTOR GO VINNIE - raced wide early. Again raced wide from the 1400m. Lay inwards and broke near the 900m losing ground. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised she had difficulty steering the gelding throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MIRACLE MEMPHIS - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver W House. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
MIRACLE MEMPHIS - paced roughly entering the first turn when racing to the inside of D K LOUIE which in turn had BETTERTHANBABE improving to its outside. When questioned Driver W House advised that his gelding had lay out and contributed to the incident. Hampered briefly early in the run home.
MIRACLE MEMPHIS - paced roughly shortly after the start. Raced wide middle stages before crossing to the parked position near the 900m. Briefly hampered by an inside runner early in the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance Driver W House stated that he was satisfied with the run given the midrace effort to get handy in what was the gelding's second raceday start.

Driver G Smith reported the filly had raced greenly throughout. KYLE LOCH - Stewards spoke with driver N. Kyle regarding the manner she drove during the initial stages of the run home, in particular her apparent lack of vigour. Miss Kyle explained that her horse was travelling well at the time, and she did not consider it necessary to urge her runner further at that stage of the race. Miss Kyle added that she applied more urgency to KYLE LOCH once she became aware of PENELOPE LANE approaching to her outside, but did not believe that urging her horse earlier in the run home would have altered its finishing position. The Stewards accepted Miss Kyle's explanation and noted it accordingly.
PENELOPE LANE - broke passing the 1800m hampering trailing runners losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly. Driver C Ferguson reported that he had difficulty steering the horse throughout.

After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Payne's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 20 November 2024 (3 days).
HAZER - broke approaching the first bend checking an outside runner, after its near-side front shoe, which had sprung loose, became caught in the near-side hopple elastics preventing the horse from placing its foot down naturally, causing it to stumble and break its gait. As a result, no action was taken against the gelding's racing manners.

Observed when returning to the birdcage to have blood present around the mouth and following a post-race veterinary examination was found to have an abrasion inside of its mouth.

The race was stopped by Stewards under Rule 211A(1) shortly after the start when CLONAKILTY shifted inwards and contacted ZOOM X with driver S Ottley being dislodged and the gelding escaping driverless for a short distance before being recaptured. Both horses were examined by the Veterinarian and cleared to take part in the re-run. Driver S Ottley was examined by St John personnel and cleared of injury. CLONAKILTY was sent to the unruly position by the Starter where the gelding will remain for future standing starts.
CLONAKILTY - checked by a breaking runner near the 900m. Raced wide from the 700m. Weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver K Butt advised the gelding had travelled well during the running however had failed to respond when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery.
CLONAKILTY - lay out approaching the 200m and shifted up the track briefly hampering an outside runner. When questioned regarding the performance driver K Butt advised she was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation.
CLONAKILTY - co-trainer B White advised the gelding had been treated for a virus since last racing. Fractious prior to the start and backed away just prior to the barriers being released with the gelding breaking and losing ground.
CARLIN - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Driver S Tomlinson advised she did not activate the sliding blinds in consequence.
MR CASH MAN - when questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson advised the horse had worked hard in the middle stages to improve to a forward position with the effort taking its toll.

HACKSAW RIDGE - broke briefly at the start. Raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 2200m. Weakened from the 1500m hampering a trailing runner and was retired from the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.

WAVEWATCHER - forced to race wide from the 500m. Lay inwards when driver O Thornley activated gear near the 300m, becoming awkwardly placed close to an inside runner which was hampered briefly. Miss Thornley was spoken to for the manner she drove when activating gear.

HI HOPES - weakened early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Hill advised the mare had over-raced when leading with the effort taking its toll.
HI HOPES - held up early in the run home. Connections advised the mare upon returning to the stable was showing early signs of a respiratory infection and will be treated prior to resuming.
QUINN - paced roughly rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Tomlinson advised she was disappointed with the effort and was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
QUINN - out of position at the start. Stewards spoke with driver M Holbrough regarding this who advised the gelding was over-racing in the score up so she elected to keep back to avoid making contact with the mobile barrier. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up final bend and early stages of the run home. Miss Holbrough reported the hopple shorteners failed to release despite her efforts due to the cord becoming entangled. Miss Holbrough was warned for using her whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
PASSCHENDAELE - lay inwards rounding the bends and again over the concluding stages. Driver N Williamson reported he was unable to fully drive the gelding out as a consequence.
PASSCHENDAELE - raced wide throughout. Weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver N Williamson advised that the gelding had over-raced with the effort taking its toll.
TREASURE COVE - over-raced passing the 950m when being restrained to obtain cover after being forced to race four wide resulting in the gelding breaking near the 900m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
THE BETTOR MAJOR - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1500m when THE BETTOR MAJOR raced wider on the track. After viewing the replays it was established that THE COALMAN had shifted wider prior to THE BETTOR MAJOR reaching its sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.
THE BETTOR MAJOR - lay inwards placing an inside runner in restricted room near the 750m. Shifted inwards placing an inside runner in restricted room momentarily near the 600m. Driver J Morrison will be spoken to regarding the manner in which he drove in the coming days.
THE BETTOR MAJOR - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

MIKI BENNETT - shifted ground outwards near the 300m checking DR GACHET (G O'Reilly) which broke losing all chance. Junior driver N Burton (assisted by J Cox) defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging she drove carelessly when shifting ground. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Miss Burton's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 30 April up to and including 4 May 2025 (2 days).

ORIGIN - driver P Davis admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Davis' driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 22 October 2025 (2 days).
ORIGIN - raced greenly for a distance passing the 1800m when attempting to improve to the lead. Hung outwards throughout the run home when utilising the passing lane.
THE MERC - slow to begin losing ground. Broke near the 300m after striking the sulky wheel of PETITE TRIXTON losing its chance. Junior driver K Bublitz (assisted by M Williamson) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when shifting ground near the 300m and allowing his runner to strike the sulky wheel of PETITE TRIXTON which punctured. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
HOOF IT HAGRID - trainer T Bagrie was issued a $50 Minor Infringement Notice for being late to notify HOOF IT HAGRID would be racing without the notified
sliding blinds. Fractious prior to the start. Driver S Hill was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for striking a track marker near the 300m. Mr Hill reported he dropped his foot from the sulky footrest early in the run home after his seat had slipped.

STUARTS BULLER BOY - shifted inwards racing into the first bend crowding KOWHAI SUNBURST before breaking and losing all chance. Driver A Faulks was issued a warning.
MIKKO KOIVU - broke at the start and shifted outwards hampering an outside runner losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke again rounding the final bend losing its chance.
MIKKO KOIVU - raced wide on the track near the 1500m. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule when MIKKO KOIVU raced wide on the track. After speaking with drivers B Williamson and G Goodman (BILL BOOTIT), assisted by M Williamson, and viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied that BILL BOOTIT had never shifted to a position on the marker line and took the matter no further.
SNOOOWGOOD - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again rounding the first bend losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of co-trainers B & T White.
THE LAST MCGUIRE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Stood down to complete one standing start trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
