JOANY BABY - began awkwardly. Lay outwards racing into the first bend. Raced greenly in the run home and lay outwards briefly near the 150m dictating BACARDI DOLL (M Williamson) slightly wider on the track. Authorisation of this runner's 1st placing was withheld until Stewards had spoken with driver M Williamson who confirmed his chances of finishing ahead of JOANY BABY had not been affected. Notwithstanding this driver D O'Connell was advised to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.

Again hampered by a breaking runner rounding the final bend. Stewards lodged a protest against 3rd placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. Connections did not contest the protest and RONDO TROUBLE was disqualified by the Stewards.
