SENSITIVE TO A SMILE - slow to begin. Stewards questioned trainer M Jones regarding the performance of the filly after it raced below market expectations. Mr Jones advised that, in his opinion, the filly had been a false favourite, given it was a non-winner and was competing against several higher-rated and more experienced horses. He further explained that the filly had not contested any trials in preparation for today's race and taking those factors into account, he was not disappointed with the performance and considered that the filly had raced in line with his expectations.

Stewards questioned driver H Douglas regarding the tactics he adopted in the early and middle stages when racing clear of the field. Mr Douglas explained that after gaining the lead early the filly had raced keenly on occasions and had established a considerable margin over the body of the field. Mr Douglas further advised that he had to steady the filly through the middle stages which allowed the remainder of the field to improve closer. Trainer M Williamson advised that he would give consideration to removing the blinds from the filly for future starts.
