FERNANDO - broke racing into the first bend checking a trailing runner losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Lay outwards rounding the final bend and early in the run home. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages. Stewards questioned driver P Davis regarding his lack of vigour over the concluding stages. Mr Davis explained the gelding had broken in recent starts and he had been reluctant to place the horse under pressure in the run home as it had caused him steering difficulties and been trotting roughly and was concerned it may break stride. Stewards noted Mr Davis' comments.

RADIANT - trainer A Edge was issued a warning for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky. Trotted roughly over the final stages and shifted into the passing lane. When questioned by Stewards driver S Thornley explained the horse was inclined to lay inwards early in the run home and he was having steering difficulties.
