After viewing the replays driver G O'Reilly did not contest the protest and PLAYOFFS was relegated to 6th placing by Stewards.

The start was initially delayed due to PENELOPE LANE requiring gear adjustments with the boring pole eventually being removed. A false start was then declared when the front line barrier strand became entangled in the legs of PRINCE RANIER.

PRINCE RANIER - broke near the 150m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.

PRINCE RANIER - trotted roughly rounding the final bend. Broke passing the 200m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Driver T Williams reported the gelding had trotted roughly throughout.

PRINCE RANIER - broke at the 200m losing all chance. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the gelding had attempted to pace on several occasions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days. Connections advised 3 March the gelding has recovered well and will continue on with the current preparation.

After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr McCormick's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 23 November 2025 (2 days).

After viewing the replays it was established that driver T Williams (TRIBBIANI) had commenced his outwards movement prior to either runner reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was required.
