GIRL'S NIGHT OUT - Stewards spoke to drivers R Holmes (GIRL'S NIGHT OUT) and H Douglas (SOFIA ROSE) in regard to Mr Holmes' outwards movement near the 1000m. After considering the explanations tendered by both drivers, reviewing all available race footage, and taking into account their own observations, Stewards established that, notwithstanding GIRL'S NIGHT OUT having its head turned outwards, SOFIA ROSE was not dictated wider on the track prior to the 1000m. Accordingly, Stewards determined that no further action was warranted.

LA CONCHA - stewards questioned driver C Dalgety regarding the improved performance of this runner, Mr Dalgety advised that, after disappointing at its previous start, the gelding had recovered well and pleased the stable with its work during the week. Mr Dalgety added that a minor gear alteration had been made leading into tonight's engagement and, combined with being driven more positively in the early stages to secure a more favourable position in the running that this had contributed to the improved performance.

LA CONCHA - had to be restrained racing into the first bend when racing on the marker line. Stewards questioned drivers G O'Reilly (JUKEBOX GYPSY) and C Dalgety (LA CONCHA) regarding this and after hearing from both drivers and viewing the replays which were inconclusive, Stewards took the matter no further. Held up throughout the run home. Mr Dalgety advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
LA CONCHA - hung outwards throughout the run home causing driver C Dalgety difficulty utilising the passing lane with the gelding being held up over the concluding stages.
MIDNIGHT SOPHIA - crowded by outside runners racing into the first bend having to be steadied. Held up leaving the final bend and early in the run home.
FRANCO ELVIS - driver B Hope admitted a breach of Rule 869(7A)(c) in that he shifted inwards leaving the final bend causing SWEET GUINESS to strike several track markers when placed in restricted room. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
A false start was declared when ULTIMATE PERFECTION broke in the score up checking a second line runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver S Tomlinson elected to shift to the Unruly for the restart where the gelding will remain for future mobile starts.

OKIWI BAY - weakened from the 1700m and was retired from the race by driver M Williamson. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG before completing one trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
CAPTAIN PUBLISHER - shifted inwards at the start hampering an inside runner and broke briefly. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
