ROGUE HERO - trotted roughly rounding the first bend when wide on the track. Weakened from the 700m hampering a trailing runner and trotted roughly rounding the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopy revealed mucous in the trachea which may have affected the horse's performance. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Connections advised the gelding will be sent for a spell.

Shifted outwards near the 500m and struck the sulky wheel of THE ROYAL GAMBLE, resulting in ONE EL's near-side foreleg becoming momentarily caught in the top of the sulky stay with the gelding breaking as a consequence, losing ground. Driver C DeFilippi admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly at this stage of the race and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.

Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule where it was established that driver D O'Connell (AVEROSS MAJESTY) had commenced his outwards movement prior to KRACKALING reaching his sulky wheel, accordingly no further action was deemed necessary.
