When questioned regarding the performance driver H Douglas advised the gelding had travelled well however was under pressure from the 700m and he was disappointed with the effort. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 800m. Stewards questioned driver M Hill regarding the incident on the first bend, who advised the mare had got its tongue over the bit and proved difficult to restrain. After viewing the films and hearing from Mr Hill a warning was placed on the racing record of BETTER KAST. Mr Hill advised he would be recommending gear changes.
