A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 150m in the run home. Connections did not contest the protest and FAREWELL SPIT was disqualified by Stewards.

PROSPERITY - raced fiercely final bend with driver K Tomlinson experiencing difficulty restraining the gelding, which on several occasions made significant contact with the helmet of driver J Curtin (EVIDENTLY) to which it was following.

PROSPERITY - raced wide early. Weakened rounding the final bend. When asked to comment on the performance trainer/driver C Ferguson advised that working hard early had taken its toll on the gelding. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed some lameness in the right hind leg. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

FLYING FOR ME - over-raced early stages placing driver J Morrison in difficulty. Continued to over-race and was awkwardly positioned to the inside of BAUTISTA (B Williamson) near the 1250m when runners were racing loosely, resulting in driver B Orange (THE HIGHLANDER) electing to shift outwards to relieve the pressure to inside runners for safety reasons. Connections were advised FLYING FOR ME was stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming. Following the race driver B Williamson viewed replays and after hearing from Stewards elected not to proceed with a protest against 1st placing being awarded to FLYING FOR ME.

SALUTE - briefly raced wider on the track near the 1400m when RIGHTAZZ shifted outwards. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule at this stage of the race, however after reviewing the footage it was established that driver B Williamson (RIGHTAZZ) had commenced his outwards shift prior to SALUTE reaching his sulky wheel, accordingly no further action was taken.
