Mr O'Reilly admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) in that he shifted outwards near the 1050m forcing SEASIDE ROSE to race wider on the track. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.

Authorisation of placings was withheld after driver K Butt wished to view replays of the start to ascertain whether she had been denied a fair start after the 10m handheld barrier was marginally delayed in releasing. Stewards spoke with drivers J Dunn (DANCE TILL DAWN), B Butt (FOLLOW YOUR DREAM) and J Morrison (TANZANIA) who confirmed their chances had not been affected. A request for a ruling was lodged with the Adjudicative Committee to determine whether KISS THE GIRLS had been denied a fair start. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, KISS THE GIRLS was declared to be a runner.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Hanrahan advised he will have blood tests taken from the gelding and Stewards will follow up the results.

BRUNTWOOD BRIGADE - raced inside a track marker racing into the first bend after being crowded by AMASS having to be restrained. Over-raced middle stages. Stewards questioned driver J Dunn regarding the tactics he adopted in the early stages. Mr Dunn advised that the horse had worked hard when attempting to hold the lead after the start and when being unable to do so felt his best option was to shift outwards rounding the first bend and obtain the lead from AMASS. Mr Dunn added he had then been challenged near the 1450m by SACETAS and was of the opinion that he would be better suited restraining his runner to receive cover rather than having to work hard again to maintain his position. After considering the matter, Stewards noted Mr Dunn's comments.

AMERICAN ME - Stewards issued driver S O'Reilly with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that she drove carelessly near the 600m when contacting the sulky wheel of DECEPTIVE LEE resulting in the tyre puncturing. The matter was adjourned by the Adjudicative Committee to be heard at the Wyndham Racing Club meeting at Cromwell on 6 January.
