Mr DeFilippi explained that he felt his runner was under pressure and therefore elected to obtain cover behind the favoured ALDEBARAN CRYSTAL, which was still travelling well at the time. He further stated that he was disappointed with the manner in which his horse finished the race. After considering Mr DeFilippi's explanation and reviewing the replays, Stewards were satisfied that his actions were not unreasonable under the circumstances and determined that no further action was warranted.

Hung inwards inside the final 100m having to be corrected on several occasions by its driver. Mr DeFilippi admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr DeFilippi's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 23 March up to and including 30 March 2025 (3 days).
