Stewards questioned Mr May regarding the tactics he adopted passing the 800m when electing to shift inwards and improve his position on the marker line. Mr May advised the gelding had hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the first bend and again on the bend near the 900m with the horse losing ground. Mr May added he felt his best option was to shift inwards and save ground rather than remain in the running line and attempt to improve wide on the final bend given the horse was under pressure to maintain its position at that time and had been hanging inwards on the bends. After considering the matter, Stewards were satisfied Mr May's actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
