Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards had spoken to drivers S Thornley (THE TOWN OF LIGHT) placed 4th and B Orange (MAJOR LI) placed 5th with both drivers advising their chances had not been affected and they did not wish to proceed with a protest. A warning was placed on the racing record of WHATSUPMAN. Trainer A Stuart advised he would be making gear changes prior to the gelding racing next.

WHATSUPMAN - placed in restricted room leaving the final bend when hampered by a weakening runner and broke losing all chance hampering an outside runner. When questioned regarding this incident driver R Close advised he became awkwardly placed due to runners ahead of him weakening sharply and not yet having sufficient advantage over outside runners. Mr Close added the gelding had paced roughly throughout.

ENOKA - lay inwards and shifted down the track in the run home briefly placing an inside runner in restricted room. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards had spoken to drivers S Ottley (THE GANGSTER) placed 5th and R Close (ENOKA) regarding this matter. Miss Ottley advised her runner had raced greenly when attempting to shift ground outwards to obtain clear racing room and placed no blame on Mr Close's runner shifting inwards. Accordingly Miss Ottley declined the opportunity to lodge a protest. Notwithstanding this, Mr Close was advised to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home in future.
