CHOCOLATE ANGUS - broke shortly after the start hampering trailing runners losing all chance. The saddle slipped on the gelding after the race due to a clip on the breastplate breaking resulting in the gelding bucking on several occasions and falling to the track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Driver C DeFilippi was uninjured in this incident. The breastplate was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.

Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 150m in the early stages. Connections did not contest the protest and HELP ME was disqualified by Stewards.

KATELIN - Stewards questioned driver C DeFilippi regarding his apparent lack of vigour until late in the run home. After considering his explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 868(2), which Mr DeFilippi defended, alleging that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure his runner was given full opportunity to win the race or obtain the best possible position by failing to show sufficient vigour in the run home when there was a reasonable chance of finishing in a more favourable placing. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr DeFilippi, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and suspended Mr DeFilippi's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 8 May up to and including 29 May 2026 (7 days).
