FOUR WISE WOMEN - raced in restricted room after 100m when runners either side shifted ground marginally, locking stays with both HOLLY HIGHLANDER, which had been dictated inwards, and IT'S SO EASY, which shifted ground sharply after locking stays, resulting in the mare breaking and losing considerable ground. After hearing from drivers P Davis (IT'S SO EASY) and T Williams (FOUR WISE WOMEN) and reviewing the films, Stewards were unable to attribute blame to any one horse or driver.

ALDEBARAN REDWOOD - held up rounding the final bend. Stewards questioned driver C DeFilippi regarding his decision to shift inwards at that stage of the race. Mr DeFilippi explained that he felt his runner was under pressure and therefore elected to obtain cover behind the favoured ALDEBARAN CRYSTAL, which was still travelling well at the time. He further stated that he was disappointed with the manner in which his horse finished the race. After considering Mr DeFilippi's explanation and reviewing the replays, Stewards were satisfied that his actions were not unreasonable under the circumstances and determined that no further action was warranted.

Driver R May admitted an associated charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when shifting ground and after hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr May's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 4 May up to and including 14 May 2025 (4 days).

Mr Hope defended a breach of Rule 859(2) alleging that he allowed his horse to start from the incorrect barrier position. After hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Hope, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $400.
