The start was delayed due to ARCHIE contacting the barrier strand despite the efforts of driver A Cameron. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.

ARCHIE - raced wide early. Weakened passing the 700m hampering trailing runners. Struck track markers rounding the final bend. Driver C Dalgety was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Dalgety advised that after working hard early to obtain the lead and being unable to gain respite in the middle stages due to TOUCH N GO over-racing in the parked position the effort had taken its toll. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ARCHIE - hampered near the 1200m. Driver W Frost admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Frost's Amateur driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 23 June up to and including 23 July 2024 (1 month).

Stewards questioned driver T Williams regarding his decision to shift outwards leaving the final bend instead of remaining in the trail and waiting for the available run in the passing lane in the run home. After considering Mr Williams explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 868(2) which Mr Williams defended, alleging he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win or obtain the best possible finishing place. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Williams, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.

Mr Dunn advised that after initially urging his horse forward with the whip the mare had paced roughly and had hung outwards resulting in him having to steady his horse. After considering Mr Dunn's explanation which was supported by the video replays, Stewards took the matter no further.
