STUMBLIN IN - raced wide early. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Ferguson advised he had been unable to make ground from the rear of the field due to the fast closing sectionals and expected the gelding to derive benefit from the race which was its first start for two months,

When questioned regarding his tactics during the running, driver C Ferguson advised the gelding lacks gate speed so he elected not to pressure the horse in the early stages to obtain a more forward position. Mr Ferguson further explained that he remained on the marker line near the 1100m when an opportunity existed to shift outwards as he did not wish to risk being left to race parked, as the gelding is best suited when saved for one run and has been driven in a similar manner in recent starts. Mr Ferguson further added that when the running line failed to improve through the middle stages he became awkwardly positioned at the rear of the field and was obliged to shift inwards in the run home to obtain clear running. After considering his explanation, Stewards were satisfied Mr Ferguson's tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

FREEZE FRAME - Driver A Butt was questioned regarding the reasons he did not drive his horse out with any apparent vigour over the final 50 metres when positioned in third place. Mr Butt explained that the horse was doing its best at that stage of the race and, in his opinion, any further urging would not have improved its finishing position or altered the placings. After considering Mr Butt's explanation, reviewing the available footage and taking into account the margin between the third and fourth placed runners, Stewards were satisfied that his actions had not affected the result and determined that no further action was warranted other to caution Mr Butt and remind him of his obligations to drive his runner out fully to the end of the race when in a stakes-bearing position.

When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted in the middle stages driver J Dunn advised he had hoped that a three wide line would develop to allow him to improve forward with cover however this did not eventuate. Mr Dunn further added he was not disappointed with the manner the gelding had finished the race off.

Driver T Williams defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly by shifting ground outwards near the 650m causing interference to FRANCO LOMU (B Orange) resulting in both runners locking wheels and losing all chance. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and both drivers, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Mr Williams driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 12 June up to and including 21 June 2026 (3 days).

FLYING ACE - crowded by outside runners racing into the first bend and raced inside a track marker having to be restrained. Stewards questioned drivers O Thornley (FLYING ACE), A Butt (GET SEASIDE LUCKY), and B Orange (JUMAL). After hearing their explanations and viewing the replays, it was established that JUMAL had initially crossed both FLYING ACE and GET SEASIDE LUCKY. However after 100m GET SEASIDE LUCKY was able to improve to the inside of JUMAL when this runner shifted up the track. JUMAL then lay inwards racing into the first bend despite the efforts of driver B Orange resulting in GET SEASIDE LUCKY being dictated inwards with FLYING ACE racing inside a track marker. After considering the circumstances, Stewards deemed that no horse or driver was at fault. Held up early in the run home and lay in and struck a track marker near the 170m.

JUMAL - Stewards questioned driver S Ottley regarding the tactics she adopted passing the 1100m when electing to shift outwards from a trailing position. Miss Ottley advised that HADRON COLLIDER which she had been trailing, had worked hard in the early stages and she was concerned that runner may weaken prior to reaching the passing lane or could restrain to obtain cover from GOT THE CHOCOLATES had it improved forward to lead which would have resulted in her horse having to race three back on the marker line. After considering Miss Ottley's explanation, Stewards were satisfied her tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

KOTARE RIMU - Stewards lodged a protest against 1st placing being awarded under Rule 869(7B) alleging the gelding had gained an advantage by racing inside the final track marker prior to the passing lane. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards, driver S Hill and trainer R Houghton, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the protest and KOTARE RIMU was relegated to 2nd placing. Junior driver S Hill (assisted by A Butt) admitted an associated charge in that he allowed his runner to improve inside a track marker thereby gaining an advantage. After hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Hill's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 17 May up to and including 29 May 2026 (3 days).
