ONE OVER DA LINE - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home and trotted roughly passing the 150m. Broke late in the run home and continued on in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 3rd placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging the gelding was lapped on at the finish by CLYDE, PAIGE and MAVIS JONES. After viewing the replays driver J Dunn did not contest the protest and ONE OVER DA LINE was relegated to 6th placing by the Stewards.

When questioned regarding the performance Mr Curtin advised the gelding had felt uncomfortable in its action and lost the near hind shoe near the 1500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

BRETT'S MATE - shifted outwards leaving the final bend briefly locking wheels with A FINE PATRICK which broke losing its chance. Stewards questioned drivers J Dunn (A FINE PATRICK) and K Cameron (BRETT'S MATE) regarding this matter where it was established that Mr Cameron had shifted outwards in a gradual and acceptable manner, however, A FINE PATRICK had hung inwards and proved difficult for Mr Dunn to shift wider on the track to accommodate the manoeuvre. After viewing the replays and considering both drivers explanation Stewards could not apportion blame on either driver and took the matter no further.
