When questioned regarding this Driver C Markham advised that his horse had been hanging inwards at various stages during the running causing him difficulty and he would be considering making gear changes prior to resuming. Stewards placed a warning on the racing record of the gelding. Notwithstanding this Mr Markham was advised to make a greater effort to keep his runner straight in similar circumstances in future. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful there had been minimal consequential effects. Lay inwards on the bends striking track markers. Mr Markham advised the gelding had cast a shoe during the running.
