SPIRITUAL BLISS - held up for clear racing room until near the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards questioned driver T Williams regarding his decision to shift outwards leaving the final bend instead of remaining in the trail and waiting for the available run in the passing lane in the run home. After considering Mr Williams explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 868(2) which Mr Williams defended, alleging he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win or obtain the best possible finishing place. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Williams, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.

SPIRITUAL BLISS - trainer B Zampese advised the mare has had its joints treated since last racing. Over-raced through the middle stages.

PENNY WEIGHT - hung outwards despite the efforts of driver J Cox and contacted the sulky wheel of SPIRITUAL BLISS near the 250m then broke hampering a trailing runner. Mr Cox advised the mare had been striking a knee during the running. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.

BETTERTHANDIVA - driver L Dobbs was warned to show better judgement in future when failing to offer his horse some respite in the middle stages by easing to take cover when an opportunity existed. Mr Dobbs admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion passing the 1400m and again in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Dobbs' driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 23 June up to and including 14 July 2024 (6 days).

When questioned regarding the performance trainer T Yesberg advised he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. BORRISOKANE - checked and broke after 100m losing ground. Lay outwards near the 450m simultaneous to AMARETTO FRANCO laying inwards resulting in both runners breaking. Stewards were unable to apportion blame onto any one horse or driver and accordingly took the matter no further.
