Broke passing the 1300m losing ground. Hampered by a weakening runner passing the 700m. Trotted roughly in the run home.

ELIZABETH HILL - co-trainers S & A Telfer were warned for being late to notify the mare would be racing with removable deafeners and without the notified anti-choke device. Held up final bend.

ELIZABETH HILL - weakened over the concluding stages. When asked to comment on the performance driver J Cox advised he was disappointed with the run and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

ONE EL - caretaker trainers C & J DeFilippi were issued a warning for failing to have the correct colours available. Broke at the start hampering trailing runners and losing all chance.

REGAL SIERRA - broke at the start losing ground. Held up final bend and early in the run home. Broke near the 175m after being crowded by WAIHEMO HANNAH losing all chance. Stewards questioned drivers B Orange (REGAL SIERRA) and G O'Reilly (WAIHEMO HANNAH) regarding this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing from both drivers it was established that WAIHEMO HANNAH had hung outwards despite the efforts of Mr O'Reilly and made contact with REGAL SIERRA resulting in that horse breaking. After considering the matter, Stewards placed a warning on the racing record of WAIHEMO HANNAH.

WAIHEMO HANNAH - began awkwardly. Checked by a breaking runner racing into the first bend and switched to a pace losing all chance.

FIGHT FOR FREEDOM - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Butt advised the gelding had over-raced through the middle stages with the effort taking its toll.

FIGHT FOR FREEDOM - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer B Butt.

FIGHT FOR FREEDOM - held up early in the run home. Driver B Butt admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $500.
