DAWN TO DARK - broke racing into the first bend when to the outside of ZARLINI checking trailing runners losing ground. Stewards questioned drivers B Hope (ZARLINI) and S Ottley (DAWN TO DARK) regarding this incident where it was established that both runners had shifted ground simultaneously and jostled for a short distance in an attempt to obtain a position in the running line behind HUGO. After viewing the replays and considering both drivers explanation, Stewards were satisfied no one horse or driver was at fault and accordingly took the matter no further. Raced wide with cover from the 1000m.

SHANNON B - trainer M House was charged a $25 colour fee for failing to have the correct colours available. Raced wide early and middle stages. Shifted inwards near the 1700m crowding QUEEN OF SWORDS. Driver T Duley was issued a warning for attempting to shift an inside runner down the track when not in a position to do so. Weakened near the 650m hampering a trailing runner.

When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the filly had worked hard in the early stages to obtain the lead which may have taken its toll. A post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery with signs of a respiratory infection. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

DEBBIE LINCOLN - shifted out passing the 50m having to be corrected.

ARAFURA - checked when unable to avoid a fallen driver inside the 50m and broke as a result losing ground before finishing in 4th place and was lapped on by the 5th placed DEBBIE LINCOLN. Given that this runner had broken as a result of interference Stewards exercised their discretion under Rule 870(5) with not proceeding with a protest.
