Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule however after viewing replays it was established that driver G Thornley (FRANCO TIM) had commenced her outwards movement prior to SWEET WILLOW reaching her sulky wheel, accordingly no further action was required.

JAY R TOLKIEN - shifted outwards near the 1700m forcing outside runners wider on the track. Driver M Howard admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Howard's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 18 December 2025 (3 days). Over-raced and broke after becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of ELEKTRA KING near the 1150m despite the efforts of Mr Howard and fell checking trailing runners. Mr Howard was unharmed in this incident. A post-race veterinary examination of JAY R TOLKIEN revealed no abnormalities. JAY R TOLKIEN was stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.

Driver M Howard admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip free of the rein and with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Howard's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 30 March 2025 (2 days).

CARBON - shifted ground inwards marginally in the run home. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until driver K Cameron (STYLE COUNCIL) placed 4th, had viewed the replays of the run home to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge a protest. After viewing the replays Mr Cameron elected not to proceed with a protest after it was established that FAREWELL SPIT placed 1st and CARBON placed 2nd, had both shifted ground marginally.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed signs of muscle tie up with the gelding also treated for mild colic. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

POISON IVY - over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover for a distance passing the 1400m. Continued to over-race placing driver O Thornley in some difficulty and as a result made contact with the back of the sulky of LARISSA BEAUDIENE and broke before falling near the 600m dislodging driver O Thornley checking SHADOW CREEK, HERE COMES MARTY, DOVER TERRACE and JOHN STEWART with driver M Williamson being dislodged from the sulky of JOHN STEWART. POISON IVY escaped driverless before being recaptured and was transported from the track in the Horse Ambulance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a head injury with the mare being treated before being referred to the Canterbury Equine Clinic for further assessment. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to completing one trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before resuming. Driver O Thornley was examined by St John personnel and cleared of injury to fulfill her remaining driving engagement.
