Again lay outwards in the run home and shifted up the track forcing ODINA wider. A protest was lodged under Rule 869A(2) against 1st placing being awarded to MASSIVE MERC (A Clark) by driver B Hope (ODINA) placed 2nd, alleging interference in the run home when MASSIVE MERC shifted up the track. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from both drivers and Stewards the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest. Driver A Clark was issued a warning to ensure he makes a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home. Mr Clark advised he will be making gear changes prior to the gelding racing next.

FOUR WISE WOMEN - raced in restricted room after 100m when runners either side shifted ground marginally, locking stays with both HOLLY HIGHLANDER, which had been dictated inwards, and IT'S SO EASY, which shifted ground sharply after locking stays, resulting in the mare breaking and losing considerable ground. After hearing from drivers P Davis (IT'S SO EASY) and T Williams (FOUR WISE WOMEN) and reviewing the films, Stewards were unable to attribute blame to any one horse or driver.

TIME FOR VICTORY - hung inwards in the run home when racing to the inside of LOTUS FRANCO. Trotted roughly near the 50m after the gelding's hind leg made contact with the sulky wheel of DASH DOSH which was racing to the outside of ASPIRATIONAL DREAM. Stewards questioned drivers C Ward (TIME FOR VICTORY), R May (DASH DOSH), C Thornley (LOTUS FRANCO) and J Morrison (ASPIRATIONAL DREAM) regarding this incident. It was established that LOTUS FRANCO and TIME FOR VICTORY had been hanging inwards with TIME FOR VICTORY causing Mr Ward some difficulty, while simultaneously Mr Morrison was shifting ASPIRATIONAL DREAM wider on the track to obtain clear racing room which in turn caused DASH DOSH to be taken slightly wider. After reviewing the circumstances, Stewards determined that blame could not be attributed to any one horse or driver and took the matter no further.

ALDEBARAN REDWOOD - held up rounding the final bend. Stewards questioned driver C DeFilippi regarding his decision to shift inwards at that stage of the race. Mr DeFilippi explained that he felt his runner was under pressure and therefore elected to obtain cover behind the favoured ALDEBARAN CRYSTAL, which was still travelling well at the time. He further stated that he was disappointed with the manner in which his horse finished the race. After considering Mr DeFilippi's explanation and reviewing the replays, Stewards were satisfied that his actions were not unreasonable under the circumstances and determined that no further action was warranted.
