KOWHAI NUGGET - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver G Thornley. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Checked by a breaking runner near the 1500m.

KOWHAI NUGGET - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Shifted outwards near the 100m checking an outside runner. Junior driver C Hackett (assisted by R Close) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when shifting ground when insufficiently clear of ANYTIME AT ALL which was checked. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Hackett's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 15 April up to and including 22 April 2025 (3 days).

PIONEER - placed in restricted room as the start was effected as runners either side shifted ground. Hung inwards after 100m and was awkwardly placed close to the sulky of EVANGALIST having to be steadied. Raced lethargically for a distance passing the 1100m and was eased out of the race by driver J Morrison. Attended to on the track by the Veterinarian and was found to have a high heart rate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

MOUTON CADET - Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1600m after MOUTON CADET briefly raced wider on the track when PIONEER shifted ground outwards. After viewing the replays it was established driver J Morrison (PIONEER) had shifted wider prior to MOUTON CADET reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was required.
