RIDGE - struck the sulky wheel of BUFFY NORTHSTAINS near the 800m and broke losing ground. Driver S O'Reilly admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly near the 800m by shifting ground outwards when not entitled to resulting in her runner striking the sulky wheel of BUFFY NORTHSTAINS before breaking and locking wheels with BRIANNA with both runners losing ground. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Miss O'Reilly, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $450.

HOOF IT HAGRID - trotted roughly and switched to a pace for a short distance leaving the final bend and lay inwards contacting a track marker. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation rounding the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination at the request of connections revealed a laceration on the left fore coronet band which was treated.

Mr Smith advised that after breaking he had eased BROTHER LOVE down and had dropped his foot for balance. Notwithstanding his explanation, Mr Smith was advised to ensure his foot remains in the sulky footrest at all times during the running.
