FORGIVENESS - underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Driver P Nairn was questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour in the run home and after hearing his explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win the race when failing to show sufficient vigour in the run home. Mr Nairn defended the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Nairn, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved. After submissions on penalty Mr Nairn's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 17 May 2024 (10 days).

PENELOPE HALL - trainer J Versteeg advised the mare has had its hocks treated since last racing. Held up final bend. Driver J Versteeg admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when shifting ground outwards near the 300m checking MODE which broke. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Versteeg's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 14 June up to and including 21 June 2024 (2 days). Mr Versteeg was also warned for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home.

A REASON TO FIGHT - broke for a considerable distance racing into the first bend and lost ground after striking the sulky wheel of OLIVER which shifted inwards when insufficiently clear. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards had viewed the replays and spoken to driver S McNally who confirmed his horse had broken as a result of suffering interference. After considering the matter which was evident on the replays, Stewards exercised discretion in accordance with the Breaking Horses Regulation by not disqualifying the horse from the race.

BONJOUR PARIS - broke near the 700m losing all chance. Returned to the stabling area with blood present in a nostril. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the gelding had bled. Stood down for the mandatory 30 days with a veterinary clearance including an endoscopic examination required prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
