SPIRIT DOWNUNDER - over-raced when racing in the parked position through the early and middle stages. Held up early in the run home. Stewards questioned driver C Ferguson regarding the tactics he adopted near the 900m when electing to shift down to the marker line as opposed to remaining in the one one position. Mr Ferguson explained that he felt that his best option was to shift inwards and follow ROCKINGOOD and DEADLINE who were both favoured runners rather than remain in the one out line following NICKEL AND DIME which had improved quickly to race in the parked position through the middle stages as this would have resulted in him having to improve wide on the final bend. After considering the matter, Stewards were satisfied that Mr Ferguson's tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until driver R Holmes (THE MANDALORIAN) placed 4th, had reviewed the replays of the run home and confirmed his chances of finishing ahead of ROCKINGOOD had not been affected. Driver R May advised he would be recommending gear changes prior to ROCKINGOOD racing next.

Trainer M Purvis advised Stewards on 24 April that KOTARE KELSO has had a fetlock and hock treated since last racing.

TROUBLESHOOTER - crowded shortly after the start by an outside runner. Hampered near the 2200m. Shifted inwards inside the final 50m when driver R May activated the removable deafeners resulting in contact with the hind leg of KOTARE KELSO (S Thornley) which broke late in the run home. Driver R May defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and both drivers the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.

HUGO - raced wide early. Shifted outwards rounding the final bend checking outside runners. Stewards questioned drivers S Thornley (HUGO), G O'Reilly (TROUBLESHOOTER) and S Ottley (TACT TEENA) regarding this incident and after hearing their evidence issued Mr Thornley with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) and the Shifting Ground Regulations alleging he drove carelessly when shifting outwards near the 400m checking TROUBLESHOOTER and TACT TEENA with TACT TEENA breaking and losing all chance. Mr Thornley (assisted by K Barron) defended the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Mr Thornley's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 25 April up to and including 30 April 2025 (2 days).

AUNTIE DEB - hung inwards rounding the final bend and struck track markers then shifted into the passing lane when junior driver M Holbrough activated the removable deafeners and continued to race in the passing lane throughout the run home, resulting in the trailing MY FRIEND LOUIE being held up. Miss Holbrough, assisted by senior driver R May, admitted a charge under Rule 869(4) and the Passing Lane Regulations in that she allowed her runner to shift into the passing lane denying a trailing runner full access. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Holbrough's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 9 March up to and including 15 March 2025, 3 days.
