Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards had spoken to drivers S Ottley (THE GANGSTER) placed 5th and R Close (ENOKA) regarding this matter. Miss Ottley advised her runner had raced greenly when attempting to shift ground outwards to obtain clear racing room and placed no blame on Mr Close's runner shifting inwards. Accordingly Miss Ottley declined the opportunity to lodge a protest. Notwithstanding this, Mr Close was advised to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home in future.

ENOKA - broke a hopple connecting strap after 50m resulting in the gelding breaking for a distance hampering a trailing runner and was retired from the race near the 1100m. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.

ENOKA - paced roughly for a distance passing the 750m having to be steadied. Weakened final bend. The murphy blind shifted during the running. When questioned regarding the performance driver R Close advised that the gelding had over-raced early and paced roughly on several occasions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Connections advised they will have the gelding undergo a further veterinary examination on return to the home stable. Stewards will follow up the results.

SKY NEWS - junior driver M Holbrough (assisted by A Butt) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Holbrough's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 6 May up to and including 8 May 2026 (2 days).
