When questioned regarding the performance driver M Purdon advised he was disappointed and was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery with abnormal breathing noises. Trainer R Houghton advised he will have blood tests taken from the mare in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.

After viewing the replays it was established that driver J Morrison (LOTTIE'S MOMENT) had shifted wider on the track prior to MIDNIGHT DIAMOND reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.
