BETTOR OFF - Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards had viewed the photo finish and confirmed the Judge's call of a dead heat for 1st place between ABSOLUTE BABE and BETTOR OFF after being unable to identify the nose of BETTOR OFF which was obstructed by the nose flap. Co-trainers S & A Telfer (represented by T Williams) admitted a charge under Rule 864(2)(a) and the Approved Gear Regulation after BETTOR OFF raced in unapproved gear due to the nose flap protruding past the horse's nose. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $600.

Stewards spoke with drivers N Williamson (UTAH JAZZ) and W House (VINCENT REACTRESS) regarding their runners being back off the gate at the dispatch. Both drivers advised that due to the speed of the mobile in the score up and it being positioned wider on the track they were both reluctant to chase their respective runners from outside barriers after being placed in restricted room rounding the bend. After speaking with Starter B Ward and viewing the replays Stewards accepted their explanation in relation to this matter.

Stewards questioned drivers J Cox (SWEET DIAMOND), R May (SEACRACKA) and Z Butcher (LUVSTRUCK) regarding this incident and after viewing the replays and considering their explanation, Stewards issued a charge against Mr Cox alleging he drove carelessly when shifting ground outwards into a run which was not present resulting in his horse breaking with trailing runners also being hampered. Mr Cox admitted the breach and after hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Cox's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 8 October up to and including 15 October 2023 (3 days).
