HEAVENS ARE HEAVING - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver M Hurrell. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Broke passing the 1300m losing ground. Broke again passing the 400m losing all chance. Driver M Hurrell reported that the filly had been striking its knees and made abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have some abrasions to its near fore and a high heart rate however had recovered well. Trainer W McDonald advised that he would give some consideration to sending HEAVENS ARE HEAVING for a spell.

ULTIMATE GUINNESS - driver R Holmes was warned for being late to arrive at the start area. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1700m. Injured in the stabling area following the race and was treated by the oncourse veterinarian. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the horse racing next. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

ONE OF THESE NIGHTS - trainer B Ward admitted a breach of the Conduct of Meetings Regulation in that he was late to present the gelding on course. After hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $100. Broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Mr Dunn elected to move to the unruly position for the restart where the filly will remain for future mobile starts.
