After viewing the replays and hearing from the drivers it was established that both Miss Harrison and Mr Close had shifted their runners simultaneously to the inside of RADIOACTIVE JAFFA which hung inwards resulting in HI LIFE and DIDJASEEMIKI locking wheels despite the efforts of their respective drivers with no further action deemed necessary. Held up early in the run home.

Mr White admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip free of the rein on one occasion early in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.

Stewards questioned drivers B Hope (ZARLINI) and S Ottley (DAWN TO DARK) regarding this incident where it was established that both runners had shifted ground simultaneously and jostled for a short distance in an attempt to obtain a position in the running line behind HUGO. After viewing the replays and considering both drivers explanation, Stewards were satisfied no one horse or driver was at fault and accordingly took the matter no further. Raced wide with cover from the 1000m.

Weakened near the 650m hampering a trailing runner.
