DON JUAN - held up early in the run home. Driver T Duley advised she did not activate the removable deafeners as a result. Stewards questioned Miss Duley, assisted by Senior Driver Mr G Smith, regarding her decision to shift inwards at the 900m. Miss Duley explained that the horse is best driven for one run and after losing cover at the 1300m and racing in the open, she considered her best option was to shift inwards in search of cover, consistent with its preferred racing pattern. After considering her explanation and reviewing replays, Stewards accepted her decision at the 900m was not unreasonable and took the matter no further.

After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250. Shifted outwards and locked wheels briefly with MOTOR MOUTH near the 50m.
