When questioned regarding his decision not to take the run available in the passing lane Mr Smith advised he believed that STYLISH LUSTRE would take this run and that the leader HERE COMES MARTY had been laying outwards under pressure which he felt would provide him with clear racing room however this did not eventuate resulting in him being held up. After viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied his explanation was not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

After viewing the replays Mr Cameron elected not to proceed with a protest after it was established that FAREWELL SPIT placed 1st and CARBON placed 2nd, had both shifted ground marginally.
