When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange could offer no tangible reason. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Co-trainers H & A Cullen advised they will have the filly undergo a further veterinary examination on return to the home stable. Stewards will follow up the results.

Stewards lodged a protest against 2nd placing being awarded to ROYAL BELLE (K Hadfield) under Rule 869A(2) alleging interference near the 150m to SHE'S A LADY (J Morrison) placed 3rd. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the protest and ROYAL BELLE was relegated to 3rd placing. Driver K Hadfield was issued with a warning to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home. When assessing this, Stewards were mindful of the minimal degree of movement from Mr Hadfield's runner.
