Mr Holmes admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.

THE LAST YARN - when questioned regarding the performance driver K Coppins advised in her opinion the filly would derive benefit from what was its first race day start and further added she was pleased with the way THE LAST YARN had finished off the race.

HES NOT THAT INTO U - lay inwards near the 900m after being shifted wider placing an inside runner in restricted room momentarily. Again lay inwards near the 750m dictating YANKEE FLYBYE inwards resulting in an inside runner racing in restricted room. Notwithstanding this driver T Herlihy was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Herlihy advised that the mid race effort when forced wide had taken its toll.

HES NOT THAT INTO U - shied and broke just short of the winning post. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Stewards lodged a protest against 1st placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging this runner was in a break as it reached the finish line and was lapped by MR MIKI. After viewing the replays trainer/driver T Herlihy did not contest the protest and HES NOT THAT INTO U was relegated to 2nd placing by Stewards.

MAGENTA - locked wheels with an inside runner passing the 400m losing all chance. Stewards questioned junior driver H Moralde Sands (assisted by T Herlihy) regarding this matter and after viewing the replays and hearing from both drivers it was established that the filly while improving quickly rounding the final bend had hung inwards causing Miss Moralde Sands some difficulty when being shifted wider on the track by MERLE MARY which resulted in both runners locking wheels. After considering all factors, Stewards deemed that no further action was required.

Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging the mare was lapped on at the finish by KENSINGTON MIKE. Connections did not contest the protest and CARRERA VAMOS was relegated to 5th placing by Stewards.
