Broke near the 500m after improving to the inside of EAGLE HANOVER (S Abernethy) and becoming awkwardly positioned between that runner and THE FOUR ACES (J Stormont), which was racing to its inside, losing all chance. Stewards investigated the circumstances and spoke with Drivers J Stormont, S Abernethy and Junior Driver E Johnson(HILLBILLY), (assisted by T Macfarlane). After considering the evidence, it was established that HILLBILLY had initially been entitled to shift to the inside of EAGLE HANOVER however shortly afterwards EAGLE HANOVER had commenced to hang inwards under pressure and shifted marginally down the track simultaneously as HAPPY HILL (B Hackett) which was racing to the inside of both runners shifted marginally up the track. with the matter being taken no further.
