Mr Macfarlane advised Stewards on 07 July that MAKE THINGS HAPPEN had become unbalanced entering the home straight when having to shift wide to obtain clear running so he had been reluctant to place the gelding under undue pressure as a result. After considering Mr Macfarlane's explanation Stewards took the matter no further.

The start was delayed at the first attempt when the field was turned out of line due to Starter D Blakemore not being satisfied with the manner in which the runners approached the barriers. The start was further delayed for approximately 8 minutes when REWIRI HILL became fractious and reared before landing in the sulky of HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL dislodging driver E Johnson who was uninjured. REWIRI HILL and HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL underwent veterinary examinations and were cleared to start. REWIRI HILL was sent to the unruly by the Starter for the restart. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding due to the initial delay to the start .
