Stewards questioned drivers T Cameron (GREAT WHITE) and B Butcher (I CAN TOO) regarding this incident and after viewing the replays and considering their explanations, Mr Cameron was issued with a warning to make a greater effort to ensure he is fully clear when shifting ground. Held up final bend. Driver B Butcher was warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground after crowding an outside runner rounding the final bend.

A final warning was placed on this runner's barrier manners. Paced roughly at the start then again entering the first turn. Weakened final turn. Trainer I Brownlee advised Stewards that the gelding would not compete in an amateur race again in the future. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted during the middle stages Driver J Brownlee advised that TUGAWAR had commenced to over-race when he initially attempted to restrain to look to take a trail on DESERT DAWN so felt it was his best option to not persist with attempting to surrender the position as he was concerned that the gelding may become fierce and choke down. Stewards noted Mr Brownlee's comments and the performance.
