A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Weakened final turn hampering a trailing runner. Driver D Butcher reported that he sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 450m.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance Trainer S Dickson reported that the gelding had been able to capitalise on a good barrier draw and set its own terms in the lead.

BENJAMIN BUTTON - paced roughly for a stride near the 250m after contacting and puncturing the sulky wheel of CHEER ME ON. Junior Driver D Grundmann, assisted by J Abernethy, admitted a charge under 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Grundmann's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 6 September 2024 (3 days).

CHEER ME ON - Driver Z Meredith, who elected not to have the assistance of a Senior driver, admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Reins Regulation in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion near the 200m. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Meredith's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on the 16 August up to and including 27 August 2024 (3 days).
