SEASIDE CHARLIE - paced roughly for a short distance near the 1400m. Lay in rounding the bends and broke near the 1200m hampering a trailing runner losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Driver P Ferguson advised the gelding had been contacting the sulky wheels throughout.

NEW YORK HUSTLER - lay inwards racing into the first bend and struck several track markers. Weakened final bend and raced greenly. Stewards questioned drivers R Fensom (NEW YORK HUSTLER) and D Ferguson (MARA) regarding NEW YORK HUSTLER striking track markers rounding the first bend. After hearing from both drivers it was established that NEW YORK HUSTLER had lay inwards when Mr Fensom had restrained his runner after being crossed by MARA. After considering the matter no further action was deemed necessary.

Hung inwards despite the efforts of Driver Z Butcher checking an inside runner then broke losing all chance passing the 400m. A warning was also placed on this runner's racing manners.

Stewards spoke with drivers J Wakeling (TOFFEE POTTS) and M McKendry (SPIRIT OF GOD) regarding this incident. After considering the matter, Stewards were unable to apportion blame to either driver and no further action was deemed necessary.
