Date / Club / Race Desc / Barrier Draw in brackets and horse time
Stewards have concluded their investigation into the manner in which driver N Chilcott drove SAYS WHO during the early stages of the race. Of particular concern was her failure to urge SAYS WHO with sufficient vigour to attempt to maintain the trailing position behind the $1.50 favourite, NIGHT MOVES, thereby enabling her stablemate, MESSENGER BUOY (K Coppins), to obtain that position.
After considering Miss Chilcott's explanation, hearing evidence from Miss Coppins, viewing all available race footage and examining all betting recorded on the race, Stewards issued a charge under HRNZ Rule 868(2). The charge alleges that Miss Chilcott failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures available to her at that stage of the race to ensure SAYS WHO was given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible position and/or finishing place.
Miss Chilcott denied the breach. The hearing has been adjourned sine die.

WALTZING WITH MIKI - broke briefly in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Locked wheels with an outside runner near the 300m and broke losing all chance.
BETTOR REACTION - weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance Driver C Hackett advised the gelding had commenced to over-race during the middle stages so she elected to improve forward to the parked position and this had taken its toll.
