A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Driver S Abernethy advised that the colt had raced keenly after contacting its sulky wheel disc over the early stages.

SAMMY LINCOLN - broke approaching the 275m and galloped a considerable distance before settling. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding broke in excess of 50m in the final 200m. Connections did not contest the protest and SAMMY LINCOLN was disqualified by Stewards.
