DARK GHANA - broke briefly near the 700m. The shadow roll came adrift approaching the 500m. Co-trainers A & L Neal were issued with a warning for failing to affix the gear so as not to come adrift. Broke again near the 400m losing ground. Broke on a further occasion in the run home losing all chance. Driver L Neal will be spoken to in the coming days with regards to DARK GHANA breaking near the 400 metres.

ALDEBARAN REDWOOD - when questioned regarding the performance driver A Poutama could offer no tangible reason. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ALDEBARAN REDWOOD - driver C DeFilippi advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled. Mr DeFilippi admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr DeFilippi's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 15 March 2026 (2 days).

When questioned Junior Driver J Dunn, assisted by B Hackett, advised that he had encountered difficulty in activating the deafeners with this gelding laying in and becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of the leader PARAMOUNT SPUR before breaking when being steadied out of the position. After viewing the replays and considering the matter Stewards warned Mr Dunn to ensure that he maintains sufficient control given similar circumstances in the future.

Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 150m when in a break. Connections did not contest the protest and EYRE I WILL was disqualified by Stewards.
