BRIENNE - held up rounding the final turn and broke near the 350m but soon settled. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off fore which required treatment. The mare was stood down pending a veterinary clearance.

HILLBILLY BLUES - Driver T Herlihy was questioned regarding the manner in which he shifted ground entering the first turn when improving away from the marker line which resulted in BRIENNE appearing to race wider on the track briefly. Mr Herlihy stated that he felt that he had commenced his outward shift prior to BRIENNE reaching the parked position and after viewing the replays Stewards took the matter no further on this occasion. Lay out throughout the run home despite the efforts of Mr Herlihy.

After viewing the replays and hearing from Junior Driver J Dunn, assisted by R Dunn, Stewards were satisfied BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER had over-raced when improving on to the back of JASINOVA resulting in the contact occurring with a warning being placed on the gelding's racing manners.

JASINOVA - Driver L Chin was shown the replay and questioned in relation to the position that he was occupying at dispatch when drawn unruly 2. Dr Chin explained that he had encountered difficulty when attempting to follow THE MOONSTONE which had become fractious and as a result turned into line in a position to the inside of BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER which had drawn unruly 1. After considering the matter Stewards extended leniency on this occasion given the circumstances and took the matter no further other than to remind Dr Chin of his obligations.

MELSADELE - raced wide after being hampered by a breaking near the 1300m. Weakened from the 600m. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver T Mitchell stated that he was disappointed with the run even after having been forced to race wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Co-trainer B Hackett advised that the mare would be turned out for a spell.

IT AIN'T ME BABE - pre-raced warmed. Raced wide early. Stewards investigated an incident near the 2000m where IT AIN'T ME BABE was obliged to race three wide briefly when racing to the outside of BANGKOK BETTY. It was established that CON GRAZIA LOVE had sufficient room to improve to the inside of BANGKOK BETTY which meant that Driver J Abernethy had little option other than to follow MELSADELE when that runner shifted out into the running line which resulted in IT AIN'T ME BABE being caught three wide briefly. Given the circumstances no further action was deemed necessary.
