OPA'S GIRL - raced erratically passing the 700m then weakened shortly after to finish distanced. When questioned Driver D Butcher stated that this runner had not warmed up as keenly as it had previously and raced lethargically throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.

It was established that driver M White (IRON MIKE TYSON) had commenced his outward movement prior to EVERNDEN reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Driver S Abernethy advised that the colt had raced keenly after contacting its sulky wheel disc over the early stages.
