Contacted several track markers when disappointed for a run in the passing lane early in the home straight before then locking wheels with an outside runner passing the 100m losing momentum. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted and in particular his decision to shift back to the marker line approaching the 1100m Driver A Poutama explained that it had been decided by connections to drive the filly with cover in tonight's event given the 2700m distance and this runner's moderate form line. Mr Poutama was issued a warning in relation to contacting the track markers early in the run home.

GOTTA GO MIKI - slow early. Broke rounding the first bend when contesting for a position in the running line with SWEET MAGGIE MAE (K Denifostova), losing ground. After viewing the films and hearing from Driver L Hollis, Stewards established that Ms Denifostova was initially entitled to shift GOTTA GO MIKI down the track, however, SWEET MAGGIE MAE was soon after placed in restricted room to the inside of OLYMPIC KO (S Abernethy), which was hanging inwards, preventing SWEET MAGGIE MAE from relieving the pressure being applied to GOTTA GO MIKI. Given the circumstances, Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any horse or Driver and took the matter no further.

Driver M Hay admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly entering the first turn when shifting inwards when not sufficiently clear of WHO'S YOUR DRAGON which was checked and contacted several track markers as a result, losing ground. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.

Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging the mare was lapped on at the finish by KENSINGTON MIKE. Connections did not contest the protest and CARRERA VAMOS was relegated to 5th placing by Stewards.
