Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded to the mare under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging AND REMEMBER ME had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. Connections did not contest the protest and AND REMEMBER ME was disqualified by the Stewards. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Driver E Johnson reported the mare had been striking the sulky wheels on various occasions.

LIL WHIP - pre-race warmed. Broke near the 600m losing all chance. Stewards questioned Junior Driver E Johnson (AND REMEMBER ME) (assisted by T Mitchell), Drivers T Herlihy (LIL WHIP) and J Abernethy (HENRIK LUNDQVIST) regarding this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing the relative evidence Stewards could not solely attribute blame to any one horse or driver. Notwithstanding this Mr Herlihy and Mr Abernethy were reminded of their obligations given similar circumstances in the future. In considering this matter Stewards took into account that Mr Herlihy had been placed at a disadvantage after losing his safety glasses near the 1600m as well as the outward movement of HENRIK LUNDQVIST contributing to the incident.

HILLBILLY - Driver M McKendry admitted charges under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 2300m when striking the wheel of ILLICIT LOVE which punctured and also near the 2250m when striking the wheel of FINAL APPROACH which punctured. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr McKendry's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including the 29 May 2025 (8 days).
